We had a great Christmas Eve this year. The kids were completely spoiled, which they didn't mind! We read the Christmas story out of the scriptures and tried to at least remind the kids about the true meaning of Christmas before they started opening some presents. We talked about Baby Jesus being born, and about the important parts of why we celebrate this special holiday. Hopefully at least a little soaked in before they started opening! The favorite presents for the three older girls were definitely their mermaid tails. My girls had been wishing for them for years, and were ecstatic to unwrap them from Grandma Karen. They wore them around the house, flopping around the whole week! Emilyn's other favorite present was Zoomer the robot dog. Matisyn continued to have big, excited reactions when she opened each one of her presents. She also created and wrapped a present for each one of us from her before we left for California. She put them all together on her own, which was really sweet. Lucas was super cute this holiday. He definitely got the idea of presents, and loved unwrapping them, but when he got to a favorite one he would stop to play with it for a long time before he remembered he still had some to unwrap. It was pretty cute. Everything tractor, train, car, and truck were at the top of his list. Baby Kaylee just took everything in for her first Christmas. She didn't unwrap much, but loved to play with the ribbon! Aunt Linda, Books, Al, and Amanda joined the rest of us for dinner that night.
Everyone settled down eventually, but got to bed pretty late. They were so excited about Santa coming and the fact that it was almost Christmas morning!
