June 17-19
We had so much fun visiting with the Helquist's during our California trip. Alison had just arrived home from a big trip to visit her family, and we were leaving soon for our beach trip, so we just squeezed it into the middle. I'm very thankful for how accommodating she was to the schedule even though it made it crazy for her when she came home. It was also very nice of Mike to let us crash his Father's Day dinner so that we could arrive on Sunday. (Don't feel too sorry for Matt, we didn't leave him on Father's Day, he left us for business, and wasn't home anyway!) They both always make us feel so welcome, even though we bring a whirlwind with us! We always have a good time, and it is somehow relaxing and rejuvenating even though our children's noise level raises lots of decibels when they are all together! Alison and I are definitely kindred spirits! The four kids all played well together this time, and we hardly broke up any fights. Jens and Matisyn even got to have a sleep over one night in the same room, and they actually just talked and then slept instead of continuing to stomp and yell and play until we separate them like usual!
We arrived Sunday night in time for dinner, and then woke Saturday morning and went blueberry picking up at Apple Hill. It was hot, but the kids all really enjoyed it, and the blueberries were delicious. We couldn't forget treats while we were there. We spent the rest of the day around the house letting the kids play, and then went to the park that evening. Our last morning we took the kids back to the park and then just let them play some more at the house. They were really pretty content to just be together, and Alison and I were happy to just have time together to visit, so it worked out just fine!
