We were so excited to have Grandma Karen come to visit.  She came while Matt was going to be out of town for a week, and it was so great to have her company and help while he was gone.  We love getting to spend time with her.  Unfortunately Emilyn got bacterial pink eye the day she flew in, and although we managed to avoid spreading it to the rest of us and she recovered from that one quickly with drops, she got a horrible cold/flu/ear infection a few days later, and we ended up sending Grandma home with that one.  I feel bad about that.  It also meant we were stuck home most of the time she was here.  Luckily I had her to keep me sane, and really the kids just want to spend time with her no matter what we are doing.  We celebrated the Super Bowl with homemade calzones, salad, snacks, and cookies.  We were pretty into it this year because the 49ers were in it.  Grandma made sure we took the game seriously!  We even watched the game instead of just half time and commercials.  The girls were pretty good cheerleaders, and even watched some with us.  Other than the normal weekly activities, and being stuck home with sick Emilyn, we managed a few breakfasts out together, a mom and Kristin dinner at Cheesecake Factory and shopping at the new outlets and up at City Creek, went to dinner at Tepanyaki, Los Hermanos, and Olive Garden, took the girls to the aquarium, and watched a marathon two seasons of Damages.  It turned out to be a great week and a half even though we were limited in our outings.

 I dug this toy out of the crawl space and couldn't believe how ready Lucas was for it already.  He loves being in it, and has spent some good time looking around and flapping his hands at the toys.

 One of Emilyn's sick days where she couldn't go to school, but was feeling a little better, she came down and surprised us with this gorgeous hair design!  An antibiotic helped, but the symptoms still hung on.  One of her ear tubes fell out, and that's the ear that got infected.  I'm hoping we won't need to do them again.

 Lucas is getting really good at grabbing and knocking his toys now.  He can even bring them to his mouth, which makes him very happy!

 Matisyn has art for specialties right now and she came home very proud of her cool and warm and "choose your own colors" colored fishes.

 Matisyn loves making crafts, and will write us cards and notes all the time.  These are for Emilyn.

 In gymnastics preschool Emilyn made a little book to start the year.  I love her duck, duck goose resolution!

Emilyn was so happy to be well enough at the end of the week to go to playgroup where her friend Megan was having a Pinkalicious birthday party.  She got to wear pink from head to toe and make pink crafts and eat pink treats!
