• ·      We can hardly believe Lucas is already one.  He is growing, changing and learning new things everyday.  We have enjoyed this first year with him so much!

• ·      He isn’t walking on his own yet, but he walks along furniture and stands and bounces in the middle of the room all the time.  He just started pushing stools and chairs and toys around to walk too.

• ·      He is a fast crawler and is constantly into something.  We still call him “trouble” because he can cause plenty of it in no time!

• ·      He loves emptying cupboards and drawers, and his favorites are those with cords and electronics in them.  He also loves pulling dishes out and trying to stack them and bang them together.

• ·      He likes to go through a lot of different toys, and I can’t think of a favorite for him.  He likes to switch it up, cars, balls, shakers, sorting toys, etc..  He explores the room daily and tries to find as much as he can that he shouldn’t get into!

• ·      He puts anything that looks like a phone up to his ear and says “hi” and nods his head!

• ·      Matt would like to say that Lucas got to see a SR-71 Blackbird jet on his birthday!  He also rode a ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge.  It was quite a day!

• ·      He is so HANDSOME.  We think he’s super cute doing pretty much anything. 

• ·      His two new words are “da du,” (thank you) and “ah du,” (all done) with his hands in the air.  We think he said “si si,” but we haven’t heard it again.

• ·      He dances!  As soon as he hears music he starts to bob his head to the beat.

• ·      He likes to eat what we are eating.  He gets really mad if you don’t hand him a spoon or fork so he can try to feed himself.  He has started eating less because he won’t eat baby food or other things that need to be spoon fed to him because he wants to do it by himself!  If he is really hungry we can get in some bites before he realizes what is happening.  He is happiest when we just fill his tray with things he can pick up and attempt to pick up with his spoon or fork. 

• ·      He loves cereal, apples, grapes, peaches, watermelon, oatmeal, pizza, baby food like chicken noodle and chicken with rice, pasta, and crackers to name a few of his favorites.  You never know what he will feel like each day though.  He has eight teeth, four on the top middle, and four on the middle bottom.

• ·      He is waking up almost every night to nurse.  It is usually between 3 and 5.  I’m still nursing four or five feedings a day.  I think because he is being such a stinker with his eating during the day, he is probably hungry at night.  It is just what we do at this point, but I do get pretty tired.  I really love the time with him, and he is so snugly and cute I’m just not ready to give that time up yet.

• ·      When he is nursing he often pops out to smile at me or say hi, then he goes back to business.

• ·      He constantly has bruises!  He falls and bangs himself on things all the time.  I feel so bad, but I guess he is just being a boy.  He doesn’t seem to mind too much, and if he cries at all, it isn’t for long.  He is a tough little guy!

• ·      He throws everything out of his crib after most of his naps.  Books go thump upstairs and we know he is awake!

• ·      He goes to bed around 7:30 and sleeps until 7:30 or so in the morning, with a wake up or two in between.  He is still taking two naps a day.

• ·      He is a happy boy and smiles all the time.  People comment on how cute and friendly he is wherever we go.  He loves being outside and seeing new things and people, but loves Mommy the most!  Even though Mommy is his favorite, he giggles and bounces as soon as he hears Daddy come home at night.

• ·      He still screams whenever we lay him down to change his diaper or clothes and often when we put him in his car seat.   He settles down quickly in the car, but usually cries the whole time we are changing him.

• ·      He also throws little tantrums now when we take something he wants.  They don’t last long, but he can screech, cry, kick and arch his back when he is mad about something.  He has also taken to hitting me in the face when I pick him up and move him away from something he shouldn’t be doing.  This is not a favorite habit of his, and I’m hoping it stops soon!

• ·      Even though he is not as perfectly calm as he once was, he really is a very content, go with the flow, patient baby.  We can take him places and he just hangs out in the stroller and looks around.  If we are prepared with snacks he is even more content!

• ·      He loves his sisters, and gets very excited when he sees them.  He laughs all the time at the faces they make, and he has so much fun playing with them.  He does not like when they grab him and pull him down, but they continue to do it to him anyway!  He is pretty tolerant with them. 

• ·      He likes his binky, and although he doesn’t use it too much while he is awake, he takes it to go to sleep for naps and nighttime and sometimes in the car.

• ·      We are keeping his car seat turned rear facing for now since that is the new recommendation for safety.  He doesn’t seem to mind as much as the girls did at that age because Matisyn sits behind him and he can look right at her.  She keeps him entertained!

• ·      The poor baby doesn’t get many of them because we are so busy around here, but he LOVES to take baths.  He splashes around, plays with toys, and stands up and down repeatedly to name a few of his bath time activities.

• ·      Even with his increased strong opinions about things, he is one of the best one year olds I’ve met.  We’re a little partial around here, but we fight over who gets to hold him and play with him, and can’t get enough of this little one.  We all love him so much!  He really is the best baby!
