 We were so happy to have Grandma Karen come to visit for a little over a week in November.  We all love having her, but the girls are especially happy as you can see here!

 Emilyn is doing so well with her letters and numbers.  She loves to show me her papers from preschool each day and tell me about what she is learning.

 Matisyn was proud of her playdough Cinderella dress creation :)

 Lucas heard something loud, and had to have a part of it.  He loves to help Mommy vacuum!

 He also likes to "help" with laundry!

 We flipped Matisyn's hair out for a change, and it turned out so cute!

 Lucas and Emilyn both wanted to help Daddy with the leaves.  Such good little helpers.  It was entertaining to watch Lucas try to hold the big shovel, and he is adorable in his puffy, red coat.  Emilyn was especially helpful to stomp the leaves down in the trash can so that they could fit more.

 Lucas loves to play the piano, and can't get enough of the little play broom that is just his size.

 I planned the Thanksgiving party for Matisyn's class.  Lucas has been the best baby for all of the parties.  He just hung out in his stroller the whole time.  I felt bad though because I was in charge of a bread center, so it was full of all the things he is allergic to so I couldn't give him anything.  Poor baby!

 Emilyn's "I Am Thankful" paper.  I thought it was extra cute because with all of the fighting these two do, the bottom has a picture that says "I am thankful for my sister and me."

 Lucas is so busy!  I was trying to capture a picture of him in the living room and he was all over the place!

 One of the few restaurants we have found that is pretty safe for Lucas and his allergies is Rumbi Grill.  It's kind of become our go to for a quick dinner out.  He loves it, as you can tell by him digging into his bowl!

 And he likes to eat off of Daddy's chopsticks!

 These gluten free aisles are a blessing, and also so overwhelming to me.  You look at all those products and think surely there will be something he is able to eat.  It is amazing how many products have one of the things he can't have.  I'll think, oh good, no wheat or corn, and then it has eggs.  Ooh, no eggs, but then it has corn, and on and on like that.  We are getting better though with practice and trial and error with what he will eat.

Lucas learned to walk this month.  Here is a video of him showing off his new skill.  He officially walked on 11-12-13, at 13 months old.


Lucas is growing and changing and learning so much each day.   Here are some of the new things he is doing since a month or so before his first birthday:

• 9-9-13:  Standing longer on his own
• 9-10-13:  Says "I" for "hi"
• 9-26-13:  He waves when you say "bye, bye."  Also has said "bye, bye" and waved.
• 9-28-13:  Starting to throw food off of his highchair when he is finished.  
• He says "uh oh" when something drops, or when you say it first.
• 10-4-13:  First Haircut by my friend Ashly
• 10-10-13:  Pushing chair around and walking
•  Claps when he is excited or proud of himself for doing something.
• 10-23-13:  Peanut Allergy Attack
• Blowing kisses-He puts his hand up to his mouth and makes the kissing sound, but doesn't finish the motion.  It is so cute!  He does it automatically when someone says "bye, bye" or "night, night."
• 11-12-13:  Learned to walk.  He's been taking a step or two, but is now officially walking.  He has been doing a mix of crawling and walking depending on his mood and how fast he needs to reach something!
• 11-12-13:  Found out about other allergies, wheat and eggs.  Oats and corn added after another test.
• 11-13-13:  Has been saying "ma" for more, and doing the sign for more.  He does the sign by pointing one finger repeatedly into the other open hand.  He gets so happy when he gets something by using the sign or saying the word.  He doesn't always want more of what he has. It can mean he wants food, or it can mean he wants to be given something else.  You have to guess his meaning.  He also says, "ah du"with his hands up for all done.
• He pats my back when I pick him up.
• He loves Mommy the very most.  He always chooses me first, and he's my little buddy.  He gets so happy and goes straight to the gate at the top of the stairs when he hears Daddy get home from work though. 
• He can be brave, but sometimes shy.  He puts his chin into his chest and smiles when he's shy.  He is often called a little flirt!

Emilyn:  Only if I get to be the girl dancer.

"Brother is such a cutie wootchie toochie.  I can't believe he is this cute!  Brother is the cutest!"  She says things like this all the time.  Both sisters love their brother!
