June 8-9
We had a chance to take the tent trailer out and enjoy an overnight camping trip, and we all couldn't wait to get out there. We were all in need of some time like that as a family. It was Lucas's first camping trip, and he did great! He slept well, and only woke up once to eat and went right back down in his playpen to sleep. Much better first trip than our little baby Emilyn had for her first night camping. He loved just hanging out and looking around outside. We were lucky enough to get the last available campsite, arriving in mid afternoon. We set up camp, took a little hike, cooked tin foil dinners, had mini adventures exploring around our camp, made smores, sat by the campfire, tried out our new hammock from Matt's friend Blake (it was a big hit with all of us!), swatted bugs away (I loved the hammock to escape from the bugs too!) and after the kids were tucked into bed in the tent trailer, Matt and I even had an hour or so to talk together and look at the stars until our campfire died out. We had some girl drama interspersed in there as is pretty normal with our family, but overall had such a great time. The next morning we had pancakes and Matt took the girls to do some more exploring before we packed up and headed back home. It was short, but sweet!
