Could this baby girl get any cuter?!!!

This little pink outfit with the rocking horse on it was my sleeper from when I was a baby.  It's fun to see how the materials and styles have changed and to snuggle my baby in something I wore too!

Kaylee is getting so strong.  She loves to sit up and look around, and she loves to hold her head up like a big baby girl!

The new recommendation from the doctors about bladder reflux is to test early if there is a strong family history of it.  Since both our girls had it, and both needed surgery for it, Kaylee is a candidate to be tested early.  They do a renal ultrasound to see if there is fluid where there shouldn't be and a VCUG which consists of inserting a catheter, filling the bladder with fluids, and taking x-rays of the bladder and kidneys filling up and voiding to see if the fluid backs up into the kidneys.  It does not feel great, takes awhile, and is a generally miserable test to endure with our kids.  We've done it multiple times with the other girls and were not looking forward to our poor, little two month old having to go through it.  Turns out we didn't need to worry as much because with a little sugar water, she was a trouper.  She hardly cried, and stayed pretty calm through the process.  There was definitely a pro to her being so little.

Our bad news was that she DOES have bladder reflux.  We really didn't think it would be possible to be 3 for 3 on daughters with it, but there definitely is a strong genetic connection.  We haven't talked to the urologist yet, but we will make an appointment with a doctor at primary children's and figure out what our next steps will be.  I assume they will have us start prophylactic antibiotics to avoid kidney infections and kidney damage, and then reassess in a year or so.  She is a level 2 on one side, which might resolve on its own, and a level 3 on the other side, which probably won't resolve on its own, but could possibly.  There isn't an obvious answer right now.  We just have to watch her close with any symptoms of a UTI, and we know that even without infections she can damage her kidneys with this problem.  That is why they recommend the daily antibiotics.  Hopefully she will be able to stay UTI free and resolve the problem in time on her own.
