Itty Bitty Soccer turned out to be quite a great investment. Matisyn was in love with soccer, it got out her energy, and Miss social had no problem meeting new friends. She was actually kind of decent at it too, so you never know, maybe it will be her thing someday. . . if only she could stay focused on the game! Matt asked if she was good, and I reminded him, they are three and four year olds, none of them were good. It was bunch ball at it's finest, complete with chaotic groups chasing balls across the court out of bounds (both teams, all 15 or so kids, would chase the ball out of bounds!), and plenty of tears. Really Matisyn's favorite parts were the rotating centers with different activities. She liked getting to learn to dribble the ball, practice with the giant soft soccer ball, chase the hula hoops, take shots on the goal, etc. She paid better attention than she did during actual scrimmages. She did manage to make a goal though, which was pretty exciting. Her favorite was being goalie, she says that's the position she wants to play. My mom reminded me that I should encourage her to play a position that requires more running, and therefore tires her out quicker!
Emilyn kept me plenty busy on the sidelines. Matisyn still talks about that time her baby sister ran into the middle of her team's soccer game. I was up taking pictures and turned for a second and when I turned back around Emilyn had run into the middle of the game with 15 crazy 3 and 4 year olds kicking a soccer ball and charging towards her. She didn't seem alarmed at all. She was clapping, bouncing and smiling like this was the best place ever!
