Summer Fun

 Matisyn took a little two day dance camp at Showcase USA, the dance company we want to try in the Fall.  They learned two dances, one each day, and performed them on the second day for the parents.  Matisyn was loving the singing and dancing together, and I'm excited to see how she does with this program. 

 Just a normal day at our house, Emilyn being a cowgirl and Matisyn dancing and kissing her prince, the broom!  She dances all over the house with the brooms in our pantry and calls them her prince!  We are not short on imagination around here!

 I had my visiting teaching partner, Erin, and the girls we teach, Emily and Heather, over to play in our backyard.  Lacey was at an appointment so Maili and Alexa came to play too.  Figured we could change up our visit since it was the summer.  It was so fun to get to talk and relax like this and let the kids run free.

 This is the way summer looks around here, crazy hair and food all over the face!  Our neighborhood has been so much fun.  There always seems to be something going on.  There have been game nights, movie nights, a concert, friends to play with, swimming, park playdates, picnics, and lots of yummy treats.  We have had to move bath time to before bed because they get so messy.  The problem is the girls think their bedtime is 11:00 p.m. now since we have had so many late nights.  I'm not sure how to get them back onto a schedule.  It's been so much fun to be so busy and have so many fun things to do, but I think I'm ready to slow down a bit now.  We'll see how we all adjust!

 Matisyn learned to ride a two wheeler bike this summer.  She is getting more and more comfortable, and it's so fun to watch her fly down the street on her bike.  I just wish she had a little more control and didn't love to go so fast so I could relax a little bit!  Emilyn wants to be just like her sister, so she always wants to have her helmet on while riding her little bikes and trying to keep up.  I love the picture of her from behind adjusting her backward helmet.

 Matisyn still loves to make dirt stew.  She has been playing with her friend Kayla a lot this summer, and this was their dirt stew extravaganza up above.  That is some serious dirt stew!

 After the Showcase USA camp we decided that it really would be a great experience for Matisyn.  You have to try out so they know where to place you.  This was the tryout day, and she was practicing her performance for me using the remote control as her remote.  Emilyn had to get in on the action too.  She sang "Part of Your World" from Little Mermaid.  She is so at ease in front of an audience.  Although she has a ways to go in learning how to sing and dance, she is a star performer.  I was so proud of how she walked right up, looked at the judges, twirled and danced, remembered to smile and remembered her part.  She didn't have music, so it was just her.  So precious!

This is where Matt found Matisyn the other morning when he woke up.  She must have come downstairs, got a pillow and blanket, and fallen back asleep in her princess tent.
