October 7
Friday was what we thought Thursday would be like. For the first 2 hours, we walked on to every ride we wanted to try, starting with Ghost Galaxy, aka Space Mountain. Alison and I took Jens and Matisyn while the dads took the little girls to do Buzz Lightyear. They wanted to sit together instead of with their moms and we let them, although I think we were both worrying about them the whole time/thinking "I can't believe they are big enough to ride alone!!" As we were getting in, Alison asked "What should we do if we get scared?" Jens cheerfully said "Cover your eyes like this!" (and showed us) and Matisyn suggested "Or you could hold hands!" They were all smiles. Then we did the Astro Orbiter, a little too much spinning for Alison and me, but what we wouldn't do for our kids!, tea cups (after the spinning from the orbiters the moms opted out), Small World again, and then we went to Toon Town to see Mickey. Afterwords, they explored Chip and Dale's treehouse and rode Gadget's Go Coaster 3 times. Even Emilyn loved the speedy coaster and wasn't scared a bit. Then everyone went to Jedi training except Sylvie and Alison. Jens and Matisyn were so sad they didn't get picked to go up, but it was still fun to watch. Then we rode the cars at Autotopia, which was hilarious with Matisyn. She was so intensely focused. She was telling me how obviously good she was at driving (with a very serious look on her face) and how easy it was when she kept getting inturrupted when she bumped into the railing the car was following. I'm pretty sure that from Matt's report Emilyn was an even "better", or at least super entertaining, driver. We had lunch (Mexican!) and each family took turns going on Thunder Mountain Railroad.
For the second part of the day we went to California Adventure where the Dads took the big kids on the Tower of Terror! I couldn't believe how well Matisyn did, she wasn't even scared. Matt said her legs flew into the air on the first drop because she wasn't expecting it, but she still wanted to go again later and take me on it with her! Alison and I took the little girls on two very short rides in bug land, with very long lines. The dads took all the kids on the Ladybug Boogie ride (more spinning), and then we did The Little Mermaid ride, which turned out to be one of Emilyn's very favorite ones. She kept asking to do it again, but we never found the line short enough again. Next we headed over to the big Ferris Wheel. Then the dads took the big kids to do the swings while Alison and I took the little girls to do King Triton's Carousel. We took turns riding Soarin' Over California, which I love, then split up. Our little family stayed in California Adventure and enjoyed the Toy Story ride, which had a horribly long line, but turned out to be really fun and different, rode Tower of Terror again, and a few other small things. We decided then it was time to get dinner and head back before we were sorry because we pushed it too long. The girls lasted a second day in a row for over twelve straight hours in the park. Another packed and successful day!
