We were excited to bless our little boy surrounded by family and friends this month. He was just over two months old. We had the blessing at Matt's parents' house to make it easier on his Dad. That way he was able to just come out for the blessing and go back to bed. He was having a good night though, and was able to be part of the blessing, visit, and even hold Lucas. We are grateful for those good times, because their have been plenty of difficult ones for him. Matt did a great job with the name and blessing. I was happy he didn't decide to change his name to Harvey on a whim! He seems to have moved on from that to be content with Lucas! Lucas Matthew was blessed with being able to cultivate his talents, show charity and love for others, have a strong body, be aware of heritage and history and to know how many people love him. I wish I could have invited and fit all my neighborhood friends who have been so supportive since I had baby, plus our best friends Mike and Alison were too far away to come, and we also missed having my family there, especially my mom and brother. We also missed having my Dad and Matt's Grandpa Rex in the circle who have passed away. The room was very crowded in spirit! I wrote this to Lucas so we could remember the special evening.
You
had a blessing at home at Grandpa and Grandma Johnson’s house. It needed to be at home so Grandpa Curt
could participate with his health failing. We sang Teach me to Walk in the Light, Uncle Mike Johnson
said opening prayer, Mom Kristin Johnson said a few words about gratitude for
the people there and thankfulness for you in our lives along with your sisters,
Dad Matt Johnson invited priesthood holders to join the blessing circle, he
gave you a name and blessing, we sang Silent Night, and Blake Barrett gave a closing
prayer and blessing on the food.
We visited and had a great dinner, ham, cheesy potatoes, salad, veggies
and dip, grapes, and rolls. We had
chocolate delight for dessert and Aunt Becky made a beautiful cake with
adorable shoes on top made of frosting.
It was really nice to have it at home where we could take our time and
soak it all in. Lots of people helped to make it a special night.
