Lucas:  Five Months Old

Lucas loves sitting in his bumbo seat up on the counter, playing with toys, and watching me work in the kitchen.  He likes being part of the action!

He loves being snuggled, and I can't get enough time like that with him!

The girls love bubbles in the bath.  With both of them having UTI problems and bladder surgeries, and with the mess they make I try to avoid them, but sometimes I have to give in.  It makes them very happy!

The whole 1st grade at Matisyn's school did a Dr. Seuss reading celebration performance.  She was part of the vowel family and sang in the chorus.  It was hard to see her in the front so I stood on the side to get some pictures.  She is always an over the top performer in her expressions and actions, so she never disappoints when we go to watch her!

Lucas can play in his exersaucer for long periods of time and happily entertain himself.  I think he loves being able to stand and look around at everyone while still playing with his toys.

Lucas is 5 months old!  Here are a few things about him...

• He is so handsome!  He has a few more opinions now, and shares them with us occasionally, but is still a very content, happy baby.  He smiles and laughs all the time, and he especially loves faces.  He is even good in the car as long as there is a toy and/or binky available!
• He loves toys now, and loves playing peek a boo, pat a cake, animal sounds, and banging on and eating books!  
• He is almost always good, and easy going.  I can get things done by moving him from the floor with toys, to the exersaucer, to his highchair with toys.  He is content on his own for long periods most days.
• He puts everything he finds in his mouth.  He drools A LOT!
• At five months and a week he finally got his first solid food, rice cereal.  He has seemed to be ready to eat solid foods, but with three kids I've been slow to get started.  He makes me feel guilty by looking longingly at my food whenever I am eating!  He was really excited to eat when we finally tried it, and he did a great job.  Nursing seems to be enough for him, but he is becoming a very distracted nurser lately.  He is very interested in everything going on around him.  He throws his head back while still sucking, to look for every sound he hears.  He loves soaking in his surroundings! 
• He generally takes 3 naps a day, but we're still working on the schedule.  They aren't at the very same time each day, and sometimes they are really short.  He has been waking up two times a night still.  I can sometimes give him a binky during the first wake up and stretch him for longer.
• We are still swaddling him at night because it seems to help him sleep longer.  He isn't rolling either way, and I'm guessing the swaddling is partly why.  He is really strong, can hold his head well, stand strong, roll side to side, manipulate toys and his binky in and out of his mouth, etc.
• He makes friends wherever he goes because he smiles at anyone who gives him attention.  He has such a fun, great personality.  He just goes with the flow of things, which makes him very easy to be around.  His sisters can't get enough of him, and are pretty kind and loving to him.  They love to help me do things for him, get him toys, hold him, etc.  We all love him very much!
